Numerian. As Caesar, A.D. 282-283. AE antoninianus (20.7 mm, 3.92 g, 1 h). Antioch mint, struck A.D. 283. IMP C M AVR NVMERIANVS NOB C, radiate and cuirassed bust right / VIRTVS AVGGG, Carinus standing right, receiving Victory from Jupiter, standing left; star above A in field, XXI in exergue. RIC 378. VF. Scarce.
The reverse legend AVGGG was used only at the end of Carus' reign, after he had appointed his two sons, Numerian and Carinus, as Augusti.
