Andronicus III Palaeologus. 1328-1341. AE trachy (24.7 mm, 2.31 g, 7 h). Thessalonica mint. Facing bust of St. Demetrius / Andronicus standing holding patriarchal cross in each hand; star in outer left and right field. SBV 2486 var; DOC 927 var. VF. Rare. This type, with stars in the outer fields, is unpublished in the standard references. However, another of this type was sold by CNG in sale 228, lot 205.
