Chancay Mortar. A rare Chancay stone mortar and pestle from Peru, ca. 1100 -€“ 1450 AD. It is 1-5/8"€ in diameter, carved from a white stone and was used to grind pigment, with much remaining red residue covering the stone. A flat, highly polished pebble was used as a pestle. Ex Zegarra collection.
